Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts
A comeback Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.
The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.
Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.
Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
His counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was over.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional victory, took control to push for a decider.
Moutet defended 4 initial chances in a tight third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
